DJ TR!P performs his music live and also works as a DJ, remix artist, workshop tutor & composer for theatre, dance, film and radio. He has performed & collaborated under many aliases such as The New Pollutants, Echelon & Cooperblack, each outfit explored different approaches &genres of music. The New Pollutants received critically acclaim for their releases, the new live re-score to Fritz Lang’s Metropolis & live performances. DJ TR!P has performed his original music & DJ’ed at venues, festivals & events all over Australasia, along side such acts as Kraftwerk, DJ Krush, Kid Koala, Sage Francis, Buck 65, Dexter from the Avalanches, Hrvatski , Cut Copy, Gerling, Light Surgeons , Paul Mac, Anticon, Scanner, Curse Ov Dialect, TZU, The Herd, Friendly, Neotropic, Chicks On Speed, Luke Slater, Dsico, Frost, Sub Bass Snarl, Kool Keith, Manitoba, Mad Professor, etc…TR!P started composing on a Commodore Amiga, the 8bit computer helping him to discover his signature style via its limited & gritty obsolete sound palette. Visual FX veteran, software developer, VJ and live audiovisualist Roger Bolton ( www.quartonian.net, www.inside-us-all.com) is playing a 1 hour live AV set in Melbourne : Thu 22 Mar @ Plug n Play, 201 Smith st, Fitzroy 8-11pm, alongside Burbage and sdzeit ), and took time out in between gigs to email these interview replies. Should be special, Roger has done much Visual FX work ( including Lord of the Rings ), and the 1 hour live set is made up of filming done throughout India, later edited and sculpted into a live set with his UK crew.

first time @ the supernatural ampitheatre for me, and very much enjoyed the whole experience... a really nice flavour of fest - hopefully left

woke on monday morning to sound of loud sex in some tent nearby... sometime later emerged from my own tent to see ambulances and a half dozen police 50m away surrounding a tent.... a camping neighbour explained, and i felt immediately for the victim, friends and family - but also - for the organisers - a tragic tainting of all the time and energy they must've put into this beautiful event...

fave music moments?

avalanches blending a 'my bloody valentine' song into their set... monkey-grins !!! - raucous, lacked something, but scaled some heights... dexta set with live drums/percussion.. the onstage dancers were silly, but it still added to the whole fun of the set.. sabastian and kavinsky - bangingly good late nightness...

sunrise act... on sun morning - 10amish? cartooon soundscape hi-jinx by some dj.... perfect for waking brains still nesting in lounges amongst the trees... followed by rad set by 'mountains in the sky'

fat freddys drop - some sublime moments with horns, too slow for their slot... better as a afternoon or sunrise act... the presets - crossover pop that didnt deliver the electronic rewards they hinted being capable of... polished 'show' though, fascinated me to see how adored they were..

mad professor - the dubmeister was memorable for bad reasons - after an annoyingly trite intro to a new song he told us was called 'Save the Planet', he proceeded to dub out - while a cheap rainbow was on the video screen behind him... could only laugh...

riot in belgium - worth mentioning only because they were so annoyingly terrible & simplistic
