There is actually a video of the last ever Ukiyo-e show at the Zoo in Brisbane. I'll see if it's around somewhere.

Behold - a Ukiyo-e Myspace. Just put up a couple of old recently discovered live videos too - one from the first ever show at the Hoey in 1998, the other from a show at the Punters Club in 1999. That track - 'Stroll & Discourse' - was recorded during the Inland sessions but didn't make the final cut. Nice to rediscover it, I gotta tell ya...

Bumpity bump........

In their first full-band performance of 2009, Sydney cinematic art rockers Charge Group return to the stage for a special show before packing their swags for a 25-date autumn tour of Europe.
Represented locally by Remote Control, the band recently secured a nice lil' arrangement to release their acclaimed debut LP 'Escaping Mankind' on European indie label Own Records, and already the album is earning some international praise.
One French reviewer lauds the record as having, ''Radiance of a discreet and indescribable beauty,'' while another British journo says, ''How Charge Group have quite managed to meld just the right essences of Radiohead, Mogwai, The Flaming Lips and The Dirty Three into this, I have not the faintest kangaroo clue. However, they have and we should be truly grateful.''
Despite having not yet played a proper show this year, 2009 has been a busy year for the band members. Singer/guitarist Matt Blackman has been developing Palace of Fire - the brand-new explosive trio with ex-Wolfmother founding members Chris Ross and Myles Heskett, as well as continuing his drumming duties for the gloriously unhinged Tucker B's. Violinist Jason Tampake has been constantly travelling the country with Josh Pyke, and contributing ongoing work with Newcastle's Firekites.
Absorb the transcendental sonic wonder of a live Charge Group show while you can...

Thanks for putting that up, 'tickle. There's a bigger version of the flyer on the latest Myspace blog thingy too. And yep, the album cover is from the same Jack Warren art - an NYC-dwelling painter who's as talented as he is crazy...and generous...
The album sleeve has a bunch of his works from the same series.

Not the official album launch, just a wee celebration for us, our friends, etc. But all are welcome. We are rather jubilant that this sucker is finally hitting store shelves after almost 3 years work on it, so thought it fitting to do something low-key on the evening of its release.
I'm too dumb to work out how to paste the official flyer in here. Shaun, did I send you one?
Sure fire way to get rid of hiccups??

the hiccup-removing guarantee. i only say this because it has never failed.
on you're knees. (biartch) chest out. both arms behind back, raised, pushing shoulder blades together. if you're not straining, you're not stretching your diaphragm enough. tilt your head back and have someone pour a glass of water down your gullet. try not to spill any on your nice pants. there. gone!
