Help ban duck shooting in Victoria!!

Comment I Made about 2 years ago

ah, i was wrong to think an emotive argument would get past this savvy crowd.

you're right, whilst there are still some fledglings around now, they probs will be able to fend for themselves by the time shooting season opens... so they'll at least have a fighting chance.

ignoring all of the peripheral comparative arguments and justifications in this thread, i just personally do not think it's okay that a poor little duckling might starve to death beside its maimed mother.

i'm all about biking. route option b is better for that darebin trail though.

and i think there's a difference between that case and residential nimby cases, in which case i tend to err on the side of build up, not out.

Re the bikepath, the current proposed route does go straight through the middle of a nature reserve... and there is a second option that goes along the edge of a golf course instead. personally, i would like my tax dollars to go towards buying the land from the edge of the golf course rather then fragmenting yet another piece of remaining urban open space.

And also, the local environment group (who have spent years improving said nature reserve) are not even the ones who caused the matter to go before VCAT.. they didn't lodge the VCAT application.

haha, meanwhile your quick response indicates you're here a little too much. and i already expanded the fold. it's where i discovered perhaps the toilets are heritage listed? (which would change my views on the probability of a 7/11 slightly). i'm also loving modi's most excellent pic/descrip. of the champion in its hey day and wondering where he got that....

For Nikkster: Re Possibility of Rob Roy becoming a 7/11

A cursory search reveals site is Zoned business 1 = no permit required for use of site as shop (including convenience shop).

But Heritage Overlay applies, so need a permit to undertake the works required, even down to changing the paint work.

Conclusion = could be turned into a 7/11 if the owners wanted, unless the council decided it the site was of too much heritage importance to the Brunswick St Precinct to allow it.
