Kicking off the GROUSE PARTY calendar for 2012, America’s wildest lesbian rappers, YO! MAJESTY (USA) perform live for GROUSE at ROXANNE PARLOUR on FRIDAY 20 JANUARY.

When YO! MAJESTY's self-promoted “YO! EP” surfaced in 2006, everyone who heard it couldn't help raising an eyebrow along with a fist. With a quickness, the liberating chant of “F##K dat SH!T” from the standout banger “CLUB ACTION” spread throughout the world and everyone who heard it wanted to know just who the hell these girls were.

Receiving unprecedented attention for an openly gay rap group, they were signed in a frenzy at SXSW to Domino Records, and spent the next couple years touring the globe (with Gossip, Peaches, CSS) and hooking up in the studio with the world’s freshest producers including Basement Jaxx.

After a crazy period that saw them break up, and (thank god) make up after, YO! MAJESTY continues forward with the two voices that started it all: SHUNDA K and SHON B. They jumped on the cause for the “It Gets Better” anti-homophobia campaign, with Shon B guesting on the track & video for Shunda K’s solo single “I’m Da Best”, and talk quickly turned to a Yo Maj reformation.

So here it comes at you, with a killer teaser track “CHERRY POP” from a new record that’s in the works, and a tour that’s setting its sights on Australian summertime!

Last time we had Adalita DJing she surprised us, not only busting the rocknroll tunes you'd expect (Beaches, Loved Ones,etc.) but a heap of hip hop tracks. So we've put her on a later set (11-1am) this time, and it's time to get on the dancefloor for the hottest rock babe in the southern hemisphere.
