Quick to damn I think because again the critics have been shown to be reluctant to go out on a limb with anything that strays too far from the safe cool indie/adult contemporary JJJ formulae that the award has now prescribed too.

I don't care about the cost but why would other genre's of artists spend the $ when the judging pool has a certain track record.

No hip-hop, punk or hardcore again...then again no punk or hardcore bands applied because they knew it would be a waste of money.

Fronted by legendary Black Flag and Circle Jerks vocalist Keith Morris, all-star Californian hardcore ensemble OFF! announce their first ever Australian tour.

The individual roots established by Keith Morris (Black Flag/ Circle Jerks), Dimitri Coats (Burning Brides), Steven McDonald (Red Kross) and Mario Rubalcaba (Earthless/Hot Snakes/ Rocket From The Crypt) are uniquely woven throughout the rock music canon. Each has challenged society’s cyclical and complacent ideals in their own respective bands and three decades on, they’ve never strayed from their intentions.

Now they come together as a four-piece called OFF! and they’re as confrontational as ever, lunging inside the aesthetic of West Coast hardcore to push life’s most provocative issues to the forefront.

Armed with a ferocious 15 minute set, OFF! made their live debut at South By Southwest in Austin in March 2010. Such a move was incredibly bold and defiant to the industry standards and it was exactly how it was supposed to be for OFF! The success of this show propelled the band to their first hometown show in downtown LA in May where they played to over 1200 people at the 6th St Warehouse for what has become of the hardcore scene’s most pivotal and historical shows of the last 20 years. It was there that OFF! reached into the crucial creativity of years past to resurrect its rawness for the present.

venue downsize in Perth and Adelaide to much smaller rooms a week and a bit out, more bands pulled out and no one knows what is actually happening...the ship lists again and again.

long time reader, long time speculator. I wouldn't spend my beans on the festival until the day before at least.

I hope they have a large pot of hidden cash to pay deposits on bands after the debacle of Soundwave Revolution.

Any wager on when the first band will pull out of this one?
