okay, so most of you don't know me, i'm fairly new here and this is my first topic.... but i am kind of excited and i thought i'd share...and hell, if you don't like my images you'll no doubt like other people's or if you have a flickr account and post self-portraits you just might find your photos here:

Imagine my surprise when I check the "recent activity" on my Flickr account this morning before heading to work (I've just updated it this past weekend for the first time in over a year) and notice that "untitled #106", affectionately referred to by myself as my "necro-porn self-portrait" has been favourited overnight by the Pace/MacGill Gallery in New York City.

Wondering what all that's about, I click on their icon and check out their profile. It appears my work has not only been scooped up in their current exhibition, but that out of the current collection of 124,453 self-portraits this particular one of mine has managed to be chosen as one of the current 1,780 favourite images (whether by the gallery or by a member of the audience, I don't know).

According to the gallery's press release "each image posted on Flickr and "tagged" as a self-portrait will automatically be filtered and directed into the exhibition. ... The hope is that the final result will be a 50 print exhibition of images chosen by the community."

Despite my initial knee-jerk "Oi! What are you bastards doing using my image(s) without asking for my persimmon!?!" reaction, I have to admit that I'm pretty proud of the small honour bestowed upon my translucent-skinned image, and hey, this marks my first public "hanging" in a New York City gallery, so really... who am I to complain?

For the record, the image in question is currently seated in "position seven in from left, top row" of the gallery favourites page. Fifteen of my images (including that one) are currently on page six of the overall ("all") collection, and eight of my images are on page one of same :o)
