Fifthly, glad to see you've got nothing invested in this.

Why do you keep repeating this point? It's clear your'e just as passionate about this pointless debate.

I remember meeting james for the first time when I was 16 or 17, maybe he was a few years younger. I distinctly remember having a conversation with him about high school and he was telling me what subjects he was doing. They weren't dumb electives like home economics, it was physics, chemistry along with the mandatory stuff...like, one would assume, English. My point is, he struck me as a smart kid and it is very highly unlikely that he only taught himself to read 4 years ago.

So either he was bullshitting me about being in high school, or the illiterate angle is fabricated. And besides, kids learn how to read in primary school.

kleec said 3 days ago: yeah he wanted too do it,your right but it wasn't just for him it was for all the hip hop fans out there too enjoy aswell,so getting off ur ass too make people happy isn't such a bad thing is it??? & depends on whether u got out of bed too make someone happy or not, whether i would applaud u???

Of course, what a great, caring guy - he did it all for us!!!

Starting a for-profit business isn't motivated by altruism. He started a festival because he saw what he thought was a gap in the market and believed he could make a profit. He took a gamble and lost. You can call him ambitious or entrepreneurial, but he certainly didn't get out of bed to make me happy (though i did get a laugh from the story, which I suppose counts as making me happy).

CPA vs Chartered Accountant

I see! I was thinking of studying for a job I could do part-time whilst doing mum duties too, I definitely don't want to be working 60+ hours a week and never see my family! Perhaps book-keeping is more my thing then.

I think the Tafe route is ideal for that then. And a lot of tafe courses have pathways into uni if that's of interest (eg. 2 years of the tafe course then the option to do an additional 3rd to count as a bachelor degree).

Anyway, mine was an extreme example: a CA in a senior position at one of the big 4. Whilst he's always worked just as hard there even when starting out, I'm sure you wouldn't have anywhere near that level of competition and pressure at a small practise. Someone can correct if I'm wrong, but I think the big 4 just hire the best of the graduates so it's naturally a lot more competitive - you don't just 'get a job' there.

Best of luck with it.

Heatwave Update: ‘Majority Of Suppliers Have Been Paid’

Heatwave director Patrick Whyntie says he does not believe his partner has run off with the money.

''He's a lovely guy. We all fear for his safety,'' he said.

''We think that he possibly has been robbed with a substantial amount of money on him and he never showed up to the other events.

''We just fear that possibly something bad has happened to him.''

Oh please, who is he fooling? What a fucktard...

You totally need a degree. Read the thread! And it's not just one degree, thats the foot in the door then youve gotta keep studying. My bro is a CA at PwC, maybe a partner now (or director or something fancy I don't really know) and honestly I've never seen him the evenings for the last 7 or so years. If he's not working til 10 he's studying. Fuck.

I think Tafe offers shorter book-keeping type courses. Good entry into the industry but not technically an accounting qualification (as in you can't call yourself am accountant - probably similar to drafts people vs architects).
