DDC LIII - February 2010 - Curry Masala

Comment I Made 14 days ago

Having been to the place 20 to 30 times I can confirm that it's generally pretty fast and friendly service, never had a bad experience. I don't think it's at all suited to large groups looking for a 'gourmet' experience though, 'tis all about the small groups going in for a quick meal on their way to somewhere else.

Protest To Channel Acca Dacca

Comment I Made 15 days ago

Saw lots of friends there too,** though none of you folks. **

Someone had to make sure the internet was kept safe.

'twas good but, the only protest i've seen in Melbourne where passerbys actually looked interested in what was going on. Well organised.

Video Games: The Thread 4!!

Just started playing the original Bioshock, and i honestly can't see the appeal.

It has a lot of atmosphere, but isn't 'fun'.

A-League 2009/10 Season

Nah, they'll probably either dismiss the suspension or reduce it to one game, after all that's what they did for panta.

I don't think anyone has actually served a suspension for hitting someone with an elbow when they weren't looking directly at the 'victim'. If Muscat does it'll be 90% down to media focus on the incident (for some reason, the identical hit from McKain on Pondeljak last Tuesday isn't as interesting).

Victorian Licensing Laws

Comment I Made about 1 month ago

A spokesperson for the state government, Rebecca Harrison, told Crikey that the Director of Liquor Licensing had the power under the Act to ''exempt or modify business from the high risk conditions on a case by case basis''.

Code for: Sue MacLellan is gonna be the scapegoat for this and she ain't getting her position back come April.

Milne: Tote’s Closure Is ‘Wake-Up Call’

Comment I Made about 1 month ago

Last year, the Tote paid $4289.50 for a liquor licence. This year, because of the new risk-based fees, the Tote was liable to pay $5962.50

The difference is $1673. The increase from last year's fees amounts to an extra $32.17 per week - or around nine pots of beer priced at $3.90 - or $4.60 per day - less than two pots.

Lies or Spin?

I'll take door number 2, spin!

I believe that Liquor licenses went up at the end of last year as well in order to recoup 15 million (which is supposed to be the cost of running the licensing system) instead of the 9.8 million they were currently recouping. It's likely that the Tote had just had a massive rise in costs to get to that 4289.50 last year and the extra 1673 just made a large rise insurmountable, but you'd have to ask someone who knows more about what the Tote was paying the year before last to get an accurate portrayal of what has happened.

Danny Allsopp is currently negotiating his release from Al-Rayyan due to their Omani striker who was bought by a european club being released back to them.

Muddafucker could be back in Victory colours come Saturday.

Awesome.

Fav Micro Brewery

Apparently the Feral Brewing Company stuff is just too expensive to get shipped across for some reason (i was given the reason but forgot it, something to do with not doing large enough orders).

Carwyn's used to do it but stopped due to the costs involved.
