The Masters Apprentices

Great article (part one) in the lastest issue of Ugly Things. Mick Bower seems such a lovely bloke, but he does over think things an awful lot!

from the aztec music website:

Jim Keays will be representing The Master's Apprentices as the sole original member - the retirement of long-time guitarist Doug Ford has bought an end to that chapter - but if anyone has the right to continue the band's name it's Jim. Joining him will be guitar ace Davey Lane (You Am I, The Pictures, Jimmy Barnes, Crowded House), bass player Mitch Cairns and drummer Johnny Creech (Mixtures, Bluestone, Russell Morris Band).

i bought a rega p1 about a year ago but have never managed to balance the tone arm correctly. i've set the little weight thing at the back to the recommended setting and even bought a little balancing doo hicky from the hi fi shop but all i can get out of a rekkid is one rotation and then it skips back to the beginning of the same groove again. i'm starting to think i should have just bought something second hand which doesn't require such fiddling about. does anyone have any hints?

i bought the raven reissue lp earlier this year for close to $90. imagine how much an orignal lp would cost?

digger, take a look at this for some prime JOC.

Nice. Most of Nick's promo vid's are now available as abonus with his new ''Quiet Please...'' compilation.

And as much as people give me shit for liking the Mentals, they sure pumped out some great power pop tunes in the early days. This is great....

Well it just so happens the day I check this forum after so many months, coincides with my Nick Lowe marathon on the old Iphone... and this is the first thread i see. It must be serendipitous. The Jesus of Cool is doing it for me right now... a bit o' power pop here, some pop punk there and i guess any other flavour of pop you can think of.

Oh, and hi Ron!
