Andrew Keese: Why The Music Industry Is Corrupt

Musicians need to place a value upon their services. Stop doing free gigs.
People will pay whatever it takes to see some bands. For many others they don't think they are worth anything.
All professions have costs attached to earning a living. If musicians don't want the costs they need to do everything themselves.
Andrew Keese: Why The Music Industry Is Corrupt
Comment I Made about 5 months ago
The music business is corrupt because musicians accept the poor deals.
Having seen record company deals, I would have said to a band that it was a bad deal. The lawyer says this is the best I can do. So does the band say yes or wait for a different and better offer.
Most often they take the deal. With supporting touring bands, do you play to expose your material to an audience and get some new fans or say no, we want more money. You can say no.
Performers run a business. Some are small, some are large. Managers work for a performer, so if a performer lets a the manager run things, whose fault is it when things go wrong.
Many strong musicians have done it their way and prospered.
Music is a hard business to be in. Integrity is important, in music as in anything that you do.

Great show at HiFi. Stephanie the drummer held the whole thing down and the band went to work over the top of the bat. I wanted the songs to go on longer. Huge grooves.
Got my vinyl signed, they were cool people.

We at Missing Link Records would like to take this time to announce that Collectors Corner is ceasing operations in Swanston Street at the end of September and we have reached an agreement to combine forces to create the best independent record store in existence!
Collectors corner will be moving in with us commencing October 2010.

Gang of Four for an old post punker like me. Monster Magnet were great at Billboard last year.
Great lineup. How will they all fit in in Melbourne?
