That was the thing that failed us! It would appear in the conversion window but then the 'Open' button did nothing, just stared at us all blue-like.

But! We've had some success today with drag and drop into region list. Thank you so much D!

They're just your usual 16-bit/44kHz stereo AIFF or WAV files; it's also not importing mono 16/44 SDII files. It doesn't matter if I export from DP5 or from Sound Studio 3, Adobe Audition 1.5, or anything - so I don't think it's the headers! Very weird behaviour really. The files were created mostly by recording through DP5, but some are samples edited in Adobe Audition.

She's coming in a few minutes so I'll try all of the above again, but it's looking a touch grim! We've also done the usual Mac stuff like repairing permissions, though I haven't tried trashing prefs or reinstalling ProTools yet.

We've tried everything!

I've been reading about Reaper and I'm interested, but my friend has an mBox and is most comfortable editing in ProTools - she pretty much won't use anything else - and anyway, I don't tend to like fixing an idiosyncratic anomaly by switching software packages too abruptly!

Just read this thanks to a link from HEB. Seems like a good publication.

I don't suppose anybody's solved this. We're still having trouble. It's really bad - one very basic function of a DAW is to import universally-compatible audio formats and it fails at this one simple task. How disheartening!

A Radiophonic Workshop Special celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Maida Vale home of avant garde bleeps, squelches and tape loops. There'll be an extract from Coldcut's Radiophonic-themed Electric Proms performance and an interview with Workshop veteran Brian Hodgson, the man responsible - among other things - for the Tardis taking off noises, you know the ones… whrrrrrrrrrrrkkkkksshhhhhh.

This is really disappointing - I tried to access it but it said it was a UK only podcast. I don't suppose anybody can be bothered grabbing it and slapping it on MediaFire or SendSpace?

Question: my colleague is using ProTools LE 7 with an MBox, and can't import WAVE or AIFF audio data (Mac OS X 10.5, MacBook Pro). We can't import/export using OMF or AAF either, because that requires some stupidly expensive Digitranslator crap. Any tips? It can't even read the SDII files that we're outputting from Digital Performer 5. Totally stupid.
