Offered $20 p/w extra on a one bedroom unit on Moreland Road last week. Find out tomorrow whether we got it or not. I hate the concept of rental bidding, but we applied for two or three other places in the area (only offering the advertised rate) - had our completed application forms, cover letter, photocopied ID/payslips/bank statements, employer references ready at the inspections - and didn't hear back from any of them, not even to let us know we were unsuccessful. We were friendly to one particular agent, chatted to him for a few minutes at the inspection, and he promised us a call back on Monday or Tuesday. Hadn't heard back by Wednesday morning, phoned the office and was promised a call back - which never eventuated.
I hate this shit.

Great Debate #2: Triple J Unearthed Radio
Comment I Made 27 days ago
I've never listened to Triple J Unearthed and to be honest I wouldn't even know how to - do you need a physical digital radio or can you stream it online?
Call me old fashioned but I still love to discover Australian bands the way I used to, by getting to gigs early and seeing support bands I've never heard of, by word of mouth and by listening to the opinions of a few journalists, blogs and websites whose opinions I trust.
There's no doubt the initial concept of Unearthed was a very strong one and one essential to bands, especially from rural areas, getting their name out there pre-Facebook and Bandcamp. I was in high school when Grinspoon, Killing Heidi and Missy Higgins all won it and that free publicity had a lot to do with those acts (well, two of 'em at least) having sustainable careers playing music. But I agree with what others have said about the Unearthed station merely seeming like a 'brand' - I've got no interest in listening to a radio station full of unknown acts in the hope that I'll hear a track I like every 90 minutes or so and be interested enough to check out their website/Facebook page and perhaps see them next time they play in Melbourne.
What are the benefits of being played on Unearthed? Surely the station wouldn't pull in huge audience numbers, even if Triple J is tracking strongly ratings wise (it had a 7.2 per cent share in Melbourne less than a year ago). If an artist appears on Unearthed a certain number of times, do they get airplay on Triple J? Would Triple J add something to low rotation, rather than flog it on the lesser heard Unearthed, if they thought it had the commercial appeal of a Boy & Bear or Art Vs Science? Would it ever be feasible for the station to run a small scale national tour featuring several acts under the Unearthed banner? (NME runs an annual Radar Tour that featured the likes of Bloc Party, Maximo Park and La Roux before they exploded). Would its audience even care if it did?
In short, I'm not for or against Unearthed, it's just irrelevant to me and my experience of discovering new music.

A lot of people seem to think Hank's DEA buddy Gomie is a mole... I don't see it myself, but that would work nicely with your theory slothman.

The more I think about it, the more I think Breaking Bad could be the best TV show of all time.
FWIW, I think season 5 will end in a shootout between Hank/DEA and Walt.

Production on season 5 starts next week, series to air in the US summer. I can't wait that long!
