One thing which has become clear over the past few days speaking with locals and doing some reading - the 'yellow shirts' are actually best described as 'fascists' - they want rule by an elite dominated by royalists and the military.

Thanks MrsL-we've spoken with the embassy a number of times and it seems that we have to wait until we get in to Bangkok and queue at the Thai air offices to work out what they can do. We've spoken to Thai Air a number of times and it's impossible to get a straight answer over the phone, so apparently we can't do anything in advance and just need to become part of the Bangkok masses, hoping that Bangkok doesn't get dangerous

Thanks Mrsl, we're flying Thai Air, so have been told by the embassy that we need to speak to them, which is proving impossible...

We've been told that all the commercial flights from Phuket etc have been bought out till Xmas ...

There a number of people we've met who have missed weddings and reports of pregnant women who have caught a week already, meaning they won't be able to fly if they're caught any longer and so will have to stay and give birth here...

No idea when we'll be able to move-we might need to fly back to Australia, missing all our US holiday, then leaving us to fight it out with insurers... Not fun!

we've been speaking with a lot of tourists over the past few days and it's fair to say that it is complete chaos here. The airport is still occupied almost a week on, with no sign of any improvement. From what people have been saying, most travel insurance won't cover these circumstances...

It seems that Thailand's reputation has been trashed for most people here, which is very sad

I'm not in BK until wednesday, but from speaking with people it sounds safe, just cut off

I'm here at the moment-not due to leave for 4 days, but it's looking increasingly like we're going to need to get an emergency flight out because, simply put, nothing is improving at the airport And now thee's a week worth of trapped tourists ahead of us, so if the airport reopens we won't be able to go anyway...

And then what happened?
