What do people think about those Sea Shepherd dudes?

They're awesome. Pretty much no one else has done anything tangible about the illegal killing of whales or Canadians killing baby seals, or the murder of Turtles and harvesting of shark fins. They're actually getting results. They halved the whale kill in the Antarctic ocean last year. No one else has ever done that.

I reckon the guy running it is a nutbar, he called his ship the fucking Steve Irwin. But then again they're just after publicity, so that's what they get.

Terry Irwin gave them special permission too. So whatever you think of the Irwin's, it wasn't done independently. They've got a new boat named the Bob Barker, who is a US Game show host that just gave 'em 5 million bucks. So it's not just weird crocodile lovers who back them.

And he's passionate and looks silly, but he's not a nut. I saw him speak for 45 minutes with no notes all about what they do. Facts, laws, numbers and a whole lot of emotion. He might seem over the top but he knows his shit.

Is it better to go the non-violent route or is it better to engage in direct action?
