I'm surprised that not more people use The Jam and Joe Cocker as references to describe this band. I can't hear Buzzcocks in this record.

i agree with tim, one of the real winners of 2011 so far. great album. love the lyrics in general, but in particular this bit from 'dani dani':

''no leathers. no colours. no tatts. no quiffs. just check shirt, and neat jeans with worn knees. old time 1993 australian suburban exoticness.''

Isn't that just two ways of saying exactly the same thing, ubu? I'm not sure what your point is.

What I was objecting to in that statement was the ''but nobody has ever done so with this level of fetishistic devotion'', but did'nt want to take it out of the context, so I quoted the whole paragraph. The whole thing reads to me as if these guys are some kind of anomaly, as opposed to yet another greatly conceived album in sub genre that has always been going strong regardless of the current musical climes.

Well by that criteria, the current crop of 80s pop clones would present the same conundrum. Or the Int. Deejay Gigolo elctro wave of of the early noughties, or...the list goes on.

Exactly, Frankie. To me this particular column (I'm not talking about the writer's previous ones) just seem really under researched...or simplified, which I find strange for a website that is filled to the brim with punishing music snobs (yours truly included). I only know the very simple basics when it comes to the dubstep genre, so I wouldn't dream of writing an analytic piece on that.
