can I suggest you find something else to either read or watch?

I watched this film at the Horsham cinema due to a lack of any other cinematic offerings and I am still disgusted that my travelling companion felt compelled to watch the entire film (rather than just cut our losses and leave early on as I had encouraged) just because he'd paid for the tickets. Life is way to short. Even when whiling it away in Horsham.

jury duty

a) funtimes, just wear whatever - you'll be sitting around all day so you may as well be comfortable.

b) Coz, I disagree with you.

You're rarely looking for someone that will 'sympathise' with the client. Frankly, that under estimates the dedication with which jurors in the state seem to do their task. It's an extremely rare case (e.g. where accused is herself a victim of long term sex/physical abuse by the complainant/deceased) where sympathy will nudge you over the line.

You're usually looking for people who are either going to have the brains and conscientiousness to bother analysing everything properly, or people who have a good dose of commonsense (or both).

The kind of juror you want - or more realistically, the kind you desperately want to avoid (since you've only got a max of 6 challenges you can only afford to flick the obvious nightmares - will always depend on the type of trial.

Some trials you're going to want people (bearing in mind you only have a few stressful seconds to make an educated guess as to what each juror is like and the views they're likely to hold re the key issues in the trial) who seem conservative, middle class. Some times you want young people (which is often quite hard). Sometimes you want more women than men. Sometimes you want smart people. Sometimes you want dumb people.

I note that overall, the most prized juror type is the tradie. And overall nurses, carers and social workers are the most commonly challenged.

Really just depends on the issues in the case so wear whatever.

That Williams hissy-fit footage was really not all that it was hyped to be.
