Oh yeah, you can have different SMS tones (but we're not allowed to JB the phones), but the issue is having different phones for different contacts. I have 2 pagers plus my phone. The pages come as SMS too, so most of the time the pagers sit on my desk and I just use the phone to be paged. Not being able to tell the incoming messages apart from being pager 1 or 2 or a ''normal'' sms, is a pain.

I think you're right raven, and that sucks. Its a simple and useful feature that hundreds of other phones have. It's also a MASSIVE pain when everyone at work is issued an iPhone and when a page comes in, EVERYONE has to look at their phone because you can't customise the tone to anything you want or assign different tones to different contacts...

raven - I have jailbroken. I have cydia and Rock installed.
I just can't find an app that will assign different sms tones to different contacts. I tried anyring - it doesn't work. I tried QucikSMS - it crashes my phone.

It's all down to whether or not there is a policy which prohibits it, and if they've agreed to it. if you have no official policy, they haven't breached a policy. If they haven't breached a policy, it's hard to take action apart from saying that their actions were generally antisocial, and how you go with that depends on HR...

I understood the damages amount was not being sought as compensation for the woman, but as punitive damages, ie in order to teach a lesson to others. So it's not right to make out as if her ''injury'' was worth $37m, but that the $37m is the deterrent.

Alannah Hill, doesn't she make a living out of clothing? So it stands to reason that she's vapid and shallow, as are the people who define themselves by their clothing (hi, Hipsters).

Fair enough. It highlights the problem with any discussion on this topic, when opinions are portrayed as facts.
There's a big popular forum called Whirlpool, where Israel v Palestine discussions are prohibited, and users who start them are suspended, due to the fact that debates on the topic are generally futile, go for hundreds of posts without resultion, and like they teach in year 7 debating, if you can't agree on definitions, no reasonable argument can follow.
