Israel vs. Palestine

Comment I Made 4 days ago

Yom Kippur war. Israel on holiday. Egypt and Syria come out of nowhere and invade. Israel caught by surpise.
That would be self-defence.

I'm logging off. I am sick of ipeople posting incorrect statements to support their position.

Shouldn't countries be secular and allow anyone to live there and all have the same duties/rights no matter what they believe?

That pretty much describes Israel.

The difference is that its the only country based on judaism, especially following history where jews were often denied full or even any citizenship in the countries they lived in. Now there's a country where it's guaranteed to them.

Do any Arabs serve in the army?

Yes. If they want to, they can, but they don't have to. About 100 a year reportedly volunteer and the Bedouin are known for tracking and them and the Druze are border guards.

aren't there jews everywhere, though?

To the best of my knowledge, certainly not in Saudi Arabia, where practice of religions other than Islam are illegal. I think most Jews from there were forced out in the 17th century (IIRC). Ironically, the only other prohibited group in Saudi are Palestinians who are also denied citizenship.

Making up 16.2% of the population, Muslims constitute Israel's largest religious minority. Israeli Arabs, who comprise 19.8% of the population, contribute significantly to that figure as over four fifths (82.6%) of them are Muslim. Of the remaining Israeli Arabs, 8.8% are Christian and 8.4% are Druze.[213] Members of many other religious groups, including Buddhists and Hindus, maintain a presence in Israel, albeit in small numbers.[214] Christians make up 2.1% of the total population of Israel and consist of both Arab Christians and Messianic Jews.[215] source

Compare that to Australia, where non-Christian religions make up less than 5% of the population, but no-one implies that muslims aren't allowed to live here.

Israel's Declaration of Independence called for the establishment of a Jewish state with equality of social and political rights, irrespective of religion, race or sex.[97] The rights of citizens are guaranteed by a set of Basic Laws (Israel does not have a written constitution).[98] Although this set of laws does not explicitly include the term ''right to equality'', the Israeli Supreme Court has consistently interpreted ''Basic Law: Human Dignity and Liberty''[99] and ''Basic Law: Freedom of Occupation (1994)''[100]as guaranteeing equal rights for all Israeli citizens.[101] The website for the Israeli government's Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that ''Arab Israelis are citizens of the Israel with equal rights'' and states that ''The only legal distinction between Arab and Jewish citizens is not one of rights, but rather of civic duty. Since Israel's establishment, Arab citizens have been exempted from compulsory service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).''

Arab and Israeli individuals each have a right to a home, not an exclusive homeland where none of the others may live.

Where is this place where only Jews, not Arabs or other people of any particular religion, are allowed to live? Cuckoo-land?

Israel/Palestine can only exist as one country

You do realise that there has never, ever, been a country/state called Palestine before, right?

Sure does, well certain ones do, depends on the customer demographic, that's where I get my cases of Golden Ale for $40 when they're 20% off :)

I wonder if Vintage Cellars will ''price match'' the 20% discount so I can get my frequent buyers points, when you buy a few cases it's worth it.
