Funnily enough 5 minutes before the goal I was thinking he was playing his best game of the season. In defence of my dislike for the player Everton had no one on the right to pressure him. Kaboul is a huge worry.

oddly enough I rate them as our two most improved players in the past season. they are both still prone to the occasional lapse, but have made pretty big contributions to where Spurs are right now.

I do think Adebayor has to start chipping in more consistently with goals - he's changed our style of play for the better, but it's still a huge ask for Spurs' midfield to keep getting the goals that will keep them battling away at the top there. unfortunately Defoe, the much sharper finisher, just doesn't fit into the way the rest of the team play, and would effectively nullify VDV, who was really great against Everton now he's gone back to doing as he pleases in the centre (he more than any other player seems to believe that a serious shot at silverware is actually on).

about when the money dried up. Everton's midfield needs a proper overhaul, but it's hard to see how Moyes is going to do it with nothing more than a pocketful of shrapnel and a handful of promising but very raw kids.

Rio and Jones were both calamitous. of course they'll go on to win every game for the next month 10-0 after that.

Spurs' issues are with injuries in important positions. while I think most Spurs fans have been conditioned to expect the worst and bridle a little at over-ambitious talk, I for one like that van der Vaart is getting bullish in interviews: while I think most would be genuinely very, very shocked if Spurs actually did it, with half the season gone and being within 3 points of the leaders, you have to believe you can give it a tilt. van der Vaart's a winner and pushing for honours means he's in his element. it's no coincidence his contributions and commitment have been pronouncedly better the closer we get. if he can rally the players around him, who knows?

I don't think it will actually happen, but Spurs are in there with a shout at this point. there's no point in the players being defeatist and apologetic about that.
