in terms of your question, my fave example is possibly sleater-kinney. i think they had about 7 albums and i think they definitely nailed it on their last, the woods. always liked them but that one blew me away. could be a maturity thing. juliana hatfield is one of my fave artists, if not my fave, and i think she's up to around 10 albums now and really, really nailing it, moreso than anything she's done in the past.
