I'm not a huge Smiths fan, so I don't have any particular affection for the original, but I though when Greg sang There is a light, that it wasn't that far removed from one of his own songs like March of the Green Men, especially with his delivery.

Despite a few sound problems tonight's show was pretty fun. Support was a spoken word performance by Mikelangelo talking about his early days of playing in bands in the 1980s. Lighthouse Keepers played 3 sets, liberally sprinkled with hits. Don't think they missed anything I particularly wanted to hear. They had arranged to do the shows with Peter Timmerman who was the Widdershins drummer, but Steven Williams, their original drummer became available at the last minute so they did the first set with Peter on drums, the second set with Steven on drums, and the third set with both of them.

Shows start fairly early as the support is a short spoken word performance with the Lighthouse Keepers going on straight after that, so don't get there too late or you might miss the first set.

Another band I've been enjoying is スカーレット (Scarlet). Don't know much about them except for that the bass player Tabusa Hayashi also plays in The Girl with Aiha Higurashi.
