If I like Sixteen Straws on Gala Mill, would I like the album?

I'd say so. Personally, I don't think any of the tracks on here quite measure up to Sixteen Straws (which still gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it). That said, there are some absolute gems and like Sixteen Straws, they're all story-based, narratives.

Go pick it up, Lord knows Gaz deserves the cash.

If you want melodies and choruses, go listen to Washington.

This album, and even those of The Drones, is about creating mood. It's clear that Gareth is focussing on timbre and harmony rather than melody, a gutsy thing to do and something which I think he should be applauded for. Sometimes you need more than a hook to express something.

Also, this album has plenty of dynamics. They're just not as in your face as those that you'd hear in a Drones track.

Also...

I'm not a particular fan of concentrating too hard when it comes to music. It either grabs you, or it doesn't.

Judging by the above statement, you dont like music that requires a little complex thought in order to engage with it. If this is true, I pity you.
