Cricinfo! http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia-v-india-2011/engine/current/match/518953.html

it's the written-down equivalent of Grandstand - even has terrible/great puns and wisecracks!

Looking forward to a great many of these!

If I may briefly spam the thread, my band Intentions has got a 7'' coming out in March with four tracks on it. One of them can be heard over at 'roids o' 'droids: http://polaroidsofandroids.com/artist/intentions/2479.html

RIP Sydney’s Ghoul: 2008-2012

I'm late to the thread here, but: this is a big loss. I fully believed they were going to be huge and/or influential. Ghoul were the only band I know who were actually equally at home in the studio as they were live. They didn’t sound like the records when they performed and they didn’t sound like their performances when you listened to their records. They were possessed with such inspired restlessness that every set they played was noticeably (sometimes staggeringly) evolved and tweaked compared to the last one. Kinda struggling with expressing what I mean here, but yeah – great band, unlike any other I know of, and last time I felt like this was when Ghosts of Television broke up.

Buy-A-Brick Scheme To Save Sydney’s Annandale

Comment I Made about 1 month ago

I suggest people donate to the Red Rattler, Black Wire or Jura Books before buying an Annandale brick. All of those places are intimately connected to their communities, are friendlier places to hang out, and at least in the case of Jura and Black Wire, are pretty much not-for-profit.

Buy-A-Brick Scheme To Save Sydney’s Annandale

yep esquared (not to mention Tom from Black Wire) have pretty much summed up my views on the Annandale saga, which I think people are thoroughly sick of.

I go out to see live music (or perform it) in this town every week and I haven’t set foot in the Annandale for something like two years, since Love of Diagrams launched Nowhere Forever there. As a venue it’s pretty irrelevant to me, my friends, my band and 90% of the bands we’ve ever played with – which makes their posturing about how they’re a huge symbol of live music in Sydney a bit of a joke.

Like Adam said, everyone else just books good gigs to stay afloat. Or, like Tom, they take a pay cut and actually immerse themselves in a genuine community instead of booking shows like it's 1999.

Good to see that Yes I'm Leaving are supporting these guys in Sydney, it's a good match and YIL are sweet dudes who deserve the exposure, such as it is
