security at shows - good or bad?

i'm not sure about new Rics but the old one before RG took over had the worst bouncers in Brisbane. i was personally chucked out numerous times, all for the wrong reasons and for defending other people being thrown out. arseholes.
Rosies has tuff-nut bouncers, real puffer-chests. have seen them violently man-handle women for no good reason (they weren't resisting or anything). they seriously don't like you having a good time with your friends ('moshing' about at a hardcore show? how absurd! i must charge through the crowd and put carl_sagan in a fucking headlock!)
security is the one of the main reasons (beyond the price of beer, cover-charge, etc) i don't like going to gigs anymore. pref. to go to houseshows and art galleries, etc. we can take care of the venue and ourselves without being thrown to the ground for jumping on-top of our FRIENDS. fuck

the coolangatta show was awesome. crowd was great, very friendly, and supportive. cat power & the dirty delta blues were on fire but the bass fucked for half of it. also, chan really fucking hated the lighting so much so she dodged every spotlight, hid behind walls.
buuuuuuuuuut. she danced, smiled, got really up close to the audience (singing right into the front row/over the gate). the last time i saw her - about 4 years ago - she was so introverted & a little bit nervous, now she's still a little spotlight hesitant (metaphorically speaking) but way more out there, it's fantastic to see.
and yeah, jim white is still sporting the Grinderman homeless-guy look.

brisbane's hifi bar show was off the fucking hook, by the way: i couldn't breath most of the time, it seemed it went on forever. people crowdsurfed, went BANANAS, and it was insanely hot. sweated through all of my clothes. everyone was smiling, too. ''we've been waiting for so long to see them...'' personally, i've been waiting 7 years, when I first heard them at the age of 15. made the most of it, too. got in a few photos with the metal claw in the air. someone was licking brian c's cymbal. people fell over left & right. the bouncers were at a lost what to do and just left us alone for the most part. no earplugs ... unbearable ringing in the ears for the whole night, couldn't sleep at all from it. brian g was smiling and laughing at some of us in the front row ... shit went offfffffffffff

and 90% of people who I've seen at their gigs actually go because they're really big fans, not because they want an excuse to be jerks. The people surrounding me were all talking to each other before sound-check, everyone was excited to hear their favourite tracks, discussing side-projects, the scene. the other 10%? are just hipsters but they're easily taken care of: just push them to the sides. pretty fucking easy when they're 4-foot 40kg..

I came across this on LB-related forum travels today. Maybe it was from this thread so apologies in advance.
Really? Is that author serious? For fuck sake, let the people go nuts. The music is insanely infectious and you can not honestly tell me that you can stand still whilst listening to them from 4 feet away. It's really hard to stand crossed-armed! Jeez. .... I do agree about people landing on their gear, they should try to keep the pushing to a minimum up front (I did accidentally knock my knee on Brian C's snare the tiniest bit when somebody pushed me.. but I immediately checked I didn't do anything to it (move it, etc), then slinked & pushed everyone back with all my might) ... but sometimes it's unavoidable! It's part of the show, now. Much like how PV/grind acts incite people to go nuts, LB's sound makes people mental. Calm the fuck down, if you're at the front just push the crowds back, and have a good time. FFS
