If I was in Melbs, I would definitely go to this show. Both these guys are great fun live.

I somehow knew if I clicked on this thread, Anok would be on a Pachanga Boys trip.

I had no idea these guys were Australian, Fire Eyes/Dancing on Silk from a few years back were great tracks.
Some really cool parts on this album - really love Under a Blue Sky - but some very lame tracks too.

Finally finished 1Q84 last night. It's a slog alright, very slow-moving and definitely not up there with his best. It's achingly beautiful in parts, has some great characters and like a lot of Murakami, will probably stay with me for awhile. But damn, it takes its time and unlike The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, where nothing much really happens either but I was gripped from start to finsh, this one took a lot of dedication to get through.

Paul Simon - You Can Call Me Al is a winner, just to see all the dads doing the slap bass part.

Finally saw the man last weekend in Dublin. I've been delibertely avoiding discussing it because I'm still quite unsure about the whole thing.
I've loved him since I Want to Live and We Must Become... is almost certainly my record of the year. I knew what to expect from the live show from watching videos online and it was certainly an experience of sorts. But seeing it in the flesh really made me wonder how the hell he gets away with it. I mean, I've seen dudes perform with just backing tracks before and it's been ace but this isn't a backing track - this is his own songs, vox and all, with him singing over the top every now and then, more often just going bananas and 'emoting'.
As I say, I was well aware of that before going to the gig but actually experiencing it was, I dunno, a bit of an eye-opener?
Still gonna love the albums - 'live', hmm...
