Stellar review Kate. Of the acts you didn't get to - Girls were sublime though they seemed a little distracted and antsy. Anna Calvi was a definite highlight, one of those 'wow' moments that don't happen often enough standing in front of stages. M83 sounded overblown (in a bad way), the aural equivalent of harsh fluorescent lighting. They sounded great when they played Kim & Jessie but that was a fleeting moment of goodness...

wow, this one has the fingers flying... I haven't heard the whole record but what i have heard sounds like superbly urgent garage power pop. It have me that rush of energy that doesn't happen nearly as much these days as it used to. Shogun comes across as a completely unique frontman/singer in the place RH are coming from. The review did feel like a vehicle to vent against Pitchfork endorsed music and didn't focus enough on the music itself. It amazes me how many people diss PF and yet many of them still probably check it out regularly - or pretend they only read Altered Zones. I agree... Shaun's review nailed my opinion of the LP.

great news... good to see some FN acts (or related) here recently - Dimmer, Die! Die! Die!, Chills, Bats. Rumours of Verlaines getting over here soon. 3Ds would be awesome too - one of the best live acts I've seen. I second the JPSE call too... ''Flex yourself and muscle me in''

I believe this is the first negative review of this album I've read. not really a negative review, more a well balanced assessment of what is good and what its failing are...

another stellar piece of writing... There are some killer moments on the album like Infinity, Another Trick and Beginning And The End which deserve to be heard. The weaker moments do detract from it being a great album though...

where the hell are The Maladies, The Scare, Leader Cheetah or Songs!
