Bleeemo Music is proud to be coordinating an Exquisite Cadaver compilation of noise and soundscape artists from across the globe.

Exquisite Cadaver is a method by which a collection of words, images, or in this case sound is collectively assembled, the result being known as the exquisite corpse. Each collaborator adds to a composition in sequence, either by following a rule or by being allowed to see the end of what the previous person contributed.

Bleeemo Music is searching for 19 artists to partake in this compilation.

Currently there is DIY label support for this project in Germany, Sweden and Australia with more to come as the project unfolds.

Artists wishing to be involved should have a myspace account or other such online account for networking and coordinating this compilation.

This is a NOT FOR PROFIT compilation. Artists that are involved in this compilation will not receive funding for recording. Mastering will be provided free of charge. Through DIY label involvement the compilation is guaranteed to reach a wide spread audience and is an opportunity for artists to have their work displayed and distributed through global underground networks.

I understand. I also think that these groups should fall under Music Victoria's banner, however, this has not been the case with other industry based orgs in Victoria. It's great to assume but I feel more proactive to question.

Finding it difficult to get straight facts about this so I've just asked Peter to explain:

Thanks for your reply.

I appreciate and thank you for all that you are doing to support and maintain our beloved live music scenes in Melbourne, as you eloquently put it Melbourne is the heart and soul of Australian live music.

I am quite intrigued as to the details of this Accord you have mentioned and was hoping you could provide me with some details as to it's intentions. Or even to point me in the direction of detailed information related to it.

I can appreciate the perceived need for another Music body, however judging by it's description as a 'contemporary music' peak body, I have some concerns as to it's motives and effectiveness

Melbourne thrives as a world leader in Music due to it's diversity. It has been an avid supporter of non-mainstream Music art and exploration and through this provides a cutting edge insight into fashion and trend development within music scenes.

The dangers we are facing with mis-informed policy development threaten to undermine this and in effect reduce Melbourne's capacity for innovation within Music scenes.

It is paramount to the survival of Melbourne's musical reputation that non-conformist albeit non-contemporary musical institutions are maintained and protected.

The mainstream Music industry does have it's place as a mechanism for tourism and profitability however it is the 'underground' Music industry that defines the next generation of salable content. Without this natural form of market research Melbourne is destined to lose it's status as a world leader in Music development.

I implore you to maintain a strong focus on saving Melbourne's live music scene from destruction, and I hope that you consider drastically the effects of ignoring the small pieces that make up the larger community. A blanket approach will not cover everyone within the multitude of Music scenes/genres/industry within Melbourne, if anything it will isolate further and cause people to look elsewhere.

In response, can you please detail the ways in which your office is considering these effects, and can you outline any strategies you have in development for the maintenance of Melbourne's diverse sub-culture communities.

Again I thank you for your much needed attention to this issue. It is a great comfort to know we have you on our side.
