i knew i was fucked about a year and a half ago when i ran across Spencer St , i had calculated the first three lanes perfectly but the foourth one i managed to run straight in front of an on coming car..i had just enough time to know i was going to be hit . Fortunetly i went arse first , and besides some spilt dips from the vic markets and a very sore arse bone as well as the shock i was ok but it realy was ''im fucked '' kind of moment ...the funny thing was imediately after i picked myself up off the road my first priority was to run around and pick up the cheeses and dips that id bought that morning at the vic markets ..it would have made for a comical sight indeed
Alberts basement general discussion, review of gigs
Discussion I Made about 3 years ago
Hello this my first posting and all ... on Saturday i went along to one of the numerous Alberts Basements ( http://www.myspace.com/albertsbasement ) vinyl fundraisers JUNE 7 ABOVE PHARMACY ON LYGON with Actions Of Love, Module, The Psuche Ensemble, Hand Hell, Ian Wadley, Panel Of Judges, Scott and Charlenes Wedding, Sister Brighid, The Twerps.
on a general note i allways enjoy Alberts Basments gigs Michael and Hayden the organisers allways mange to pull together an eclectic mix of bands and usually a genrous number of bands . My own band ''Team Red'' has performed at a number of them and there is something comforting about the fact that even if there is no attendence the amount of bands booked means there will still be a decent audience for your performance though the majority of Alberts Basemnts gigs have been very well attended .
Anyway as far as the Saturday experience i had a really good time as an audience member besides the maybe predictable anoyance of the gig starting almost two hours after the advertised time there was a really friendly vibe people would just come and introduce themselves and i had some really good chats with complete stangers . The quality of theperformances were generally high . Highlights for me include ''Moduler'' two guys who looked like real estate agents , or cops or organised crime who did a very cool guitar with drums with mutiple effects and loops set that start of minimal and experimental and then evolved into this almost 80's rock vibe in the best possible way.
Handhell with their sardonic female lead singer and well executed rock vibe were kind of like a rockier Do-Re-Mi
and Psuche Ensamble were cool just jammy poppy exprimental stuff that built nice evolved and did not outstay it welcome
there were other bands i enjoyed but im not entirely sure who they were
id be interested in what anyone els attending the event though ..and in the longer term there are at least two more vinyl compilations too be released and no doubt numerous more Alberts Basements gig comeing up over the coming months to be commented on maybe even on this my virgin thread thank u for your time
