ok cool. i actually do want to run proper stereo, im just not sure how to pan anything properly for a live situation. actually dont really use too many reverbs.

with things like guitar and on-stage synths, they are going to be mixed dead center usually anyway, and then some of the panned stuff on the laptop might lose its place in the mix a bit ?

but anyway back to the original point, even if i was using the sound card..would it be more beneficial to run a stereo out of it of the exact same thing, or just EVERYTHING panned to one single mono out...

i know you said it doesn't matter, but does having so many sound sources coming out of one mono channel effect the sound?

ie. sometimes a combination of: kick, snare, hi hat, cowbell, 2 or more synths and some other stuff...sometimes all at once...does it stay the same no matter how many sounds you have coming through one mono channel?

you mean a little mixer for the 2 or 3 synths + the 2 laptop outs? or 4 or more laptop outs from the sound card into the little mixer then still run the synths into seperate DI's?? either way, this isn't a bad idea

have updated all the drivers, but yeah the logic 8 i was using wasn't ''proper'' but i actually just bought the proper version and haven't had a chance to try it with the focusrite yet...so good ideas thank you

DANNA said 1 minute ago: apogee is good, as are MOTU for macs. but what was wrong with the focusrite? why didn't you just drop back to 2 outs from the focusrite? the D/A convertors in the focusrite will shit all over your laptop direct outs.

lots of click n pops, loss of sync, software control for outputs, all kinds of quirky little things that made it troublesome / unreliable for live use

oh, when i was using 4 outs i was just giving the kick & snare a seperate line which was cool, but like i said the focusrite sound card was unreliable... the sync between soundcard and laptop seemed weak, had to restart the computer a lot.

and then also using 2 / 3 synths on stage you end up asking for 6 / 7 D.I's at every venue which NEVER happens, not to mention never getting sound checks or decent change over time, which means running all these extra lines / DI's becomes a huge hassle for everyone.

ultimate solution = GETTING A DRUMMER (who wants to drum for WOW?)
