Saints Reform For Pig City

Seminal Australian punk act The Saints – a band who rank alongside The Ramones and The Sex Pistols in terms of importance – will reform to headline a one-off show at the Queensland Music Festival. The gig, a day long show at the University of Queensland on Saturday 14 July, has been christened Pig City, a title taken from Andrew Stafford’s fascinating book about the Brisbane music scene.

“The Saints didn’t fit the mould and didn’t want to fit the mould,” Stafford told Brisbane’s Courier-Mail newspaper. “But they made one of the greatest debut albums of all time and I can’t think of any band from the era who covered so much artistic territory in three albums.”

The band’s line-up will feature founders Chris Bailey (vocals), Ed Kuepper (guitar) and Ivor Hay (drums). It’s not confirmed yet who will play bass. Other bands on the bill include The Riptides, Ups and Downs and Regurgitator, with tickets going on sale through Ticketmaster on Saturday 19 May.
