Yes, that’s right, everyone’s favourite minimalist noise rock trio – Ben and Liam Andrews and Rohan Rebeiro – will notch up a decade with a show at The Corner Hotel in their hometown of Melbourne on February 8.
The band came together at the beginning of February 2003, playing two all-ages shows at Good Morning Captain and Missing Link in Melbourne to launch a demo cassette they recorded that year. They’ve since performed in almost 30 countries, including Russia, the former Yugoslavia and Mexico, as well as countless visits to North America, Europe and New Zealand (read a diary of one of their tours here). In that time they’ve released three full-length albums – Cancer (2006), Paradise (2008) and Little Joy (2010) – at a rate of one record every 3.3 recurring years.
In addition to the Corner Hotel show, My Disco’s plans for 2013 include a fourth album, which is slated for release in September through Temporary Residence, and a new single in April through a “well-respected North American label”.
Supports from New War, Standish/Carlyon, Max Crumbs, Absolute Boys and Brain Children, with a special guest to be announced soon.
Tickets are $22 (plus booking fees) through the venue or $24 on the door (if available).
