– After debuting successfully in 2012, SLAM Day is returning in 2013 on Saturday February 23. Raising awareness for SLAM’s campaign to protect live music and see its cultural impact acknowledged, SLAM 2012 saw over 150 gigs taking place in small venues nation-wide.

Registration for the 2013 edition is now open. It’s free, and any live music event, no matter how small, can be registered. For more information, go to slamrally.org.

– The Lansdowne will be hosting a benefit show on Friday December 21, for the film If It’s Catchy, It Means You Stole It. The line-up will feature Swirl (featuring the original line-up, playing their first show in 16 years), Whopping Big Naughty and Peter Fenton.

Film-maker Jarrad Kennedy is preparing If It’s Catchy, It Means You Stole It for the 2013 festival circuit, prior to a wider 2014 release. The documentary follows Sydney musician/label head Nic Dalton, serial band-member (65 and counting) and co-founder (along with Miles Ferguson) of Half A Cow records. It will feature interviews, performance footage and animations, among other things. Tickets are $12. Doors at 8pm.
