M+N Readers Poll 2012 Open For Voting
News posted Wednesday, December 12 2012 at 04:00 PM.
Related: Readers Poll.

You’ve had our opinions hurled at you all year, now’s your turn to answer back. The seventh annual M+N Readers Poll is officially open for 2012.
You can now cast your vote in the usual categories – Best Album, Best New-ish Act, Best Comeback and Best Live Band – but for the first time readers will also be able to weigh in on the worst break-up of the year. As always, there’s an “other” box if you feel a band that recorded a limited-run cassette-only masterpiece is grossly unrepresented. And for the first time ever we’ve opened up the albums poll to New Zealand acts we’ve championed throughout the year.
To vote, simply click here and follow the prompts. Voting closes next Tuesday, December 18, with the results announced on M+N that same week. VOTING IS NOW CLOSED
Happy voting, The team at M+N

LIARS? really?
LOL
STREET TEAMS, MOUNT UP!
i was wondering what the first whinge was going to be
Get in there Short Stack
Is there a category for ''best whinge in a festival review thread''?
That'd be a tough fought battle.
Just voted and then realised that Drowning Horse were not included anywhere.
Youse cunts can fuck yourselves.
Didn't vote. Hurtful. Dead.
What? No best controversy? Categories seem a bit light on this year...
Anyway had to add in YIS as biggest loss, Saint Jude as best newish band and the mighty Midnight Woolf as best live act- it's great to have the option to choose your own, too many good bands to list I guess (although the best albums category was quite comprehensive).
Gave it straight to teenage Mothers
Couple of fairly obvious omissions:
Spinning Rooms and DEAD in best album
The Aesthetics, DEAD, Deaf Wish, Bits of Shit, ZOND in best live acts
Yes I know you can add your own made-up bands in the box at the bottom, but some of these have been covered in M+N articles. And the others should've been.
MESA COSA
Wish Snakeface was in the albums list. I know it wasn't submitted, and therefore not reviewed, but just... yeah... anyway, I'll include it when I vote.
It's OK guys, you can just vote for Grinspoon instead of your overlooked favourite band.
If there's enough consensus in the ''other'' boxes we'll add to the main list.
These things are a bitch to put together and of course there are going to be omissions.
And have YIS really broken up? I didn't get the press release...
The Spinning Rooms album is a very obvious omission, especially considering that it is probably one of the most original, fully formed and mindblowing rock albums released anywhere in the world this year. Sure, that's just my opinion, but I'm putting it out there.
ZOND and Deaf Wish for best live acts, fo' shure.
Thanks for the tip on The Spinning Rooms, good shit. I really should actually listen to more local music... Tell me all the bands I should be seeing!
Another overlooked album is 'Dancing On Sinking Sands' by The Bulls (Linda and Bean from The Dacios). And The Dacios are an obvious 'best live band' contender, as is Kim Salmon (in any of his many guises).
DEAF WISH best live band.

Seconded. They were ace at Harvest, but too much of an aberration seeing their name here.
ok, so by extension you won't read another word about Nick Cave, The Dirty Three, AC/DC, Dead Can Dance and The Death Set here.
I have no problems with that at all.
knew someone would post that!
I want an article on that chick who plays with the Michael Jackson.
jennifer batten is australian?
Nick Cave, The Dirty Three, AC/DC, Dead Can Dance and The Death Set all formed in Australia.
Liars have an Australian member and were formed in NY and have sucked for a long time.
Michael Jackson is from Adelaide but made moved at a very early age to Los Angles to peruse their menu.
I think 'played' is what you meant. Actually, 'played guitar with' might be less leading. Anyway, she's ace.
Red hot chilli peppers! Flea!
voted, can't wait for the wiggles to win em all.
Chicks on Speed?
Fieldy from KORN has had sex with Australians.
We are a part of the British empire. So I vote for Coldplay.
Can we vote for films?
Mad Max was filmed in Australia
Evan dandified stones at rrr I vote for the lemonheads
Can I submit ten votes for the one album? I want to vote for LIARS.
re liars, i support the idea expats aren't excommunicated, but it does seem a bit late attempt to grab at thin air.
out of interest, does angus have any local musical history we should check out?
+1 for Spinning Rooms FrankieTeardrop, just heard this recently and it brings the sausage rolls.
Grow up dickheads, you don't have to vote for it.
