“This is a summer song/And I want you all to sing along,” declares Wil Wagner on a celebratory new track from Melbourne five-piece The Smith Street Band.
Lifted from second album Sunshine And Technology, the track says Wagner was written while living above a pub on Smith Street in the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood. “It’s about waking up on a sunny morning and getting drunk with my friends and not having to go to work,” he told M+N.
Recorded by Sam Johnson at Melbourne’s Three Phase Studios and mixed by Matt Voigt (Midnight Oil, Paul Kelly, The Nation Blue) at Sing Sing Studios, Sunshine And Technology will be out on August 24 through Poison City Records. It follows a 2011 debut, No One Gets Lost Anymore, and will be toured nationally in August/September. Dates below.
