Debbie Harry and Nick Cave have collaborated on ‘The Breaking Hands’, a track from the new Jeffrey Lee Pierce tribute The Journey Is Long. Originally appearing on The Gun Club’s 1987 album Mother Juno, the song has been reinterpreted as a duet, featuring piano, bowed saw, brushes and strings. The pair collaborated on the first compilation of unreleased Jeffrey Lee Pierce material, 2009’s We Are Only Riders.
Other artists appearing on The Journey Is Long include The Dirty Three’s Warren Ellis, Mick Harvey, Tex Perkins and Lydia Lunch. It’ll be out April 6 through Fuse.

Quite a nice track, turned into an old-school Nick Cave ballad. Unfortunately I fail to see what Debbie Harry's vocal adds to it.
Am I going insane or is this not actually new? A friend has had this on vinyl for months now. Has he got some sort of dodgy bootleg?
Beautiful. In fact i'd like to see the entire Mother Juno record reinterpreted. A great album marred by horrible 80s production. The original version of this song would be great if it didn't sounds like a Billy Idol cover.
I love the original, but agree that this album (and to some extent Miami) has been ruined by horrible production. Jeffrey's songs deserved better.
True. The production on 'Miami' wasn't a patch on 'Fire Of Love', which still stands as one of the best-sounding guitar-rock albums ever released. Still, the songs on 'Miami' are pretty genius.
@tihstar - You're not insane. The album has been out via Glitterhouse for a couple months now.
Agreed. Not new. I got it off iTunes a while back! A nice little song tho'. Ramblin' mind is also pretty good
Ohhh! aNOTHer duet...!! Should read more. Hope it's good enough to erase my memories of that dire Cave tribute panto aired on ABC2
