Listen – Expatriate Return With 'Miracle Mile'

Related: Expatriate.

Just because a band decamps to Europe doesn’t mean they disappear completely. Such is the case with Sydney’s Expatriate, who’ve been reasonably busy since moving to Berlin (how cliché, says Hugo Race) following the release of 2007 debut In The Midst of This.

The band makes their long-awaited return to Australia in December with some pretty big notches on their Jack London belts: a 26-date arena tour as main support to Placebo; sold-out headline shows in Switzerland, France, Germany, UK and Greece; and a run of festival dates in the European summer.

They somehow found time to record a new album, Hyper/Hearts, at the Monnow Valley Studios in Wales with producer Andy Savours (PNAU, The Killers), before completing the album at their Berlin home studio. ‘Miracle Mile’ is its first single and it’ll be launched in Sydney and Melbourne next month. Unsurprisingly – and that’s the other thing about moving overseas – they’ve never sounded more like The Models or The Church.
