M+N Video Premiere: Jonti

Remember when Jonti Danilewitz changed his moniker from Danimals to Djanimals to stave off potential legal action from a yoghurt company? Now, he’s just Jonti and he’s releasing his debut album Twirligig through Mistletone/Inertia locally and Stones Throw in the US in October. In the meantime, you can bliss out to the clip for first single ‘Firework Spraying Moon’, which will be released digitally on August 9.

Directed by Henry DeMaio (Dam Funk, Mayer Hawthorne), the clip – Jonti’s first – was shot in LA. “Underwater and upside-down monkey bar shots were fun as hell,” he says. “I chose this song as first single because I wanted a simple song that represented me in my element - creating music for the simple joy and satisfaction of creating it. No ego, no loud car crashes. Yet.”

Kind of semi-agree with this.

tig  said about 3 years ago:

Why does it need to be a song?

untold/animals  said about 3 years ago:

It only semi-needs to be! I don't think it's very memorable is all. Nice sounds and textures (and pictures) but after three listens none of it is stuck in my head. It's 'nice' though.

tig  said about 3 years ago:

They signed to Stones Throw who don't exactly put song structure at the forefront of their needs, plus it only goes for 1.56. Anwayz i wish Jonti would send me some stuff to play in da clubz. October is an awful long time away.

Nice sounds and textures

it has to be crafted more, you can make these nice textures and sounds by just layering up pre-sets and affects on your computer or keyboard. you can make this sort of thing by letting your cat walk across the keyboard.

am sure that why Jonti has people like Mark Ronson, Gaslamp Killer, Hodgy Beats and Gotye championing him.

if thats the case I'm gonna let my cat run wild

This is an incredible song, Motherfuckers.

Just because their isn't a b-section doesn't mean it shits all over your own output.

:D

i meant to say. ''doesn't mean it doesnt''. you got the jist. jonti's sick.
you're okay too, you just spend too much time on here trolling when you could be making more music.

I kind of agree, there are some really great details in this song, it's incredibly well-constructed. It's probably my taste though – I can't connect with stuff like Prefuse73/Madlib/Flying Lotus/Oscar and Martin etc as much as I've tried. My head says I should love it but I just end up appreciating the technical aspects.
