What: Two Lakes by Seaworthy and Matt Rösner.
When: September 22 through New York label 12k.
Key notes: Debut collaboration between Australian sound artists Seaworthy (aka Sydney’s Cam Webb) and Matt Rösner from Perth. Source material for Two Lakes was recorded over a week in autumn at Lake Meroo and Lake Termeil on the NSW South Coast. Various equipment including a hydrophone, a shotgun and stereo microphones were used to capture the natural sounds of each lake. Album was mixed and finalised at Rösner’s home studio in Myalup, WA. Two Lakes is the third full-length album by Seaworthy to be released on influential New York label 12k. Seaworthy’s previous albums include Map in Hand (2006) and 1897 (2009).
From the presser: “Two Lakes is a strikingly stark and lonely album undeniably influenced by the remote recording cabin and delicate Australian ecosystem. The blend of instrumentation comes off more like a natural, live duet between artist and nature than a modern-day layered recording.”

Fantastic, can't wait.
I was listening to the (beautiful) Seaworthy/Pollen Trio collaboration the other day and thinking that a Seaworthy odds+sods compilation would be a very fine deluxe 2CD set. Anyone want to release one for me so I can listen to it in the car? Thanks.
absolutely stunning cover art
look forward to it
agreed kazpafta, fantastic art.

Stoked!
Can't wait to hear this!
this will be lovely! am just going to miss that launch at raval by a couple of nights, unfortunately.
when's the launch?
__v - you should prod runoutgroove about the odds and sods thing, he once mentioned to me about doing a disc of live tracks with handmade packaging. this could be the impetus for such a thing - just prod!

Just a reminder that if you're planning on coming along to the Sophie Hutchings/Seaworthy + Matt Rösner launch on Thursday 28 October, you can pre-book tickets here Quite a few sold already...
From review at Brainwashed.com ''Two Lakes sounds like the work of four artists: Webb, Rösner, and each lake, as both the traditional playing of instruments and the calm sounds of nature contribute equally to the final product. There is a sense of life and timelessness that pervades the work and makes it perhaps one of the best statements of environmentalism possible, because rather than being just rhetoric, it captures the actual essence of nature amongst the songs.''
Looks liek there will only be a small number fo tickets on the door for the Sydney launch on Thursday so maybe catch a Wollongong launch?

thanks SGH. there was a nice review at dusted.com last week.
''In keeping with their preoccupation with nature’s fragility, Webb and Rösner’s stuff is a far cry from the massive sound events heard on Chris Watson records. Waves lap rather than crash, wind whispers rather than rips and rattles. Their playing is similarly circumspect, favoring discrete scouring sounds, rustic picking, and elongated ribbons of drone. Neither music nor natural sound dominates. Instead, the duo has put the parts together so that they co-exist without jostling one another.''
