Songs Duo Call It Quits

Two members of Sydney’s Songs are leaving the band to pursue other interests.
Percussionist Steve Uren and guitarist Jeff Burch have decided to “amicably” part ways with singer-guitarist Max Doyle and bassist Ela Stiles following Burch’s permanent relocation to the US and Uren’s involvement in other projects. They’ll play their last shows with the band on a four-date tour in late September/early October, which will double as the launch of Songs’ self-titled debut album on vinyl.
Despite the pair’s departure, Songs plan to release new material including single ‘Heavy’, a document from their most recent recording session at the now defunct Tardis Studios with Mike Burnham. Speaking to M+N this week, Burch said the band’s remaining members were looking forward to their next phase.
“I think Max and Ela are looking to carry on under the Songs banner but with new membership. Though as far as I know nothing is has really been planned as yet.”

probably one of my favourite albums of the last 2 years. Shame they're splitting but I very much look forward to the Sydders show
Fuck, I'll be in Sydney.
If they're a duo, why are there 4 in the photo?
How are we supposed to teach kids to read... when they can't even fit in the building?
