Laneway 2011 Dates Announced, Rumours Milled

After a couple shape-shifting years, the Laneway Festival seems to have settled down in its respective home cities for next year (save for Auckland, which looks like it’s going to be on the move from Britomart Station).

In any event, New Zealand’s largest city will be the first port of call for Laneway when it takes place at a “heaps good venue” on January 31 (although we think they mean “choice”). It’ll then travel to Brisbane’s Alexandria Street (off St Paul’s Terrace) in the Fortitude Valley for a twilight (not Twilight) event on February 4; Melbourne’s Footscray Community Arts Centre on February 5; the Sydney College of the Arts in Rozelle on February 6; Fowler’s Live in Adelaide for another twilight event on February 11; and the Cultural Centre in Perth on February 12.

While the line-up won’t officially be announced until October 12 (Washington is at $2.25, Cloud Control $3.80), that hasn’t stopped some crafty M+N posters from looking at Laneway’s new blog for some clues. In its inaugural post, “Is L.A the new Brooklyn?”, there are props for Best Coast, No Age, Jenny and Johnny, Warpaint, Dum Dum Girls, Darker My Love, Local Natives and Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti. Of course, this might have absolutely nothing to do with the line-up, and everything to do with Laneway keeping us in the loop. Thanks guys.

Stop speculating, arseholes. Labor is clearly going to be headlining with support from Greens and The Independents.

Someone mentioned Japandroids might be here in early 2011. Laneway would be a great fit.

And it's about time Tallest Man on Earth toured again.

From the twitter -
''People are picking some hot acts... Pressure is on! Hope my tastes are half as good as everyones. One clue: its got gallons depth''

Is that a clue or is he saying that there's depth to the lineup?

Anyway, Laneway's adding a Singapore date this year.

I reckon he's heard that he can afford to buy tickets to two shows and a flight to one.

nyx  said about 1 year ago:

I kinda wonder what artist would need to be announced for me to go 'holy shit! unmissable!' these days.

That's kinda sad.

nyx  said about 1 year ago:

yeah I felt kind of sad when I wrote it. But I just couldn't think of any bands. Might be because I've had too much coffee/sugar/sunshine and can't concentrate though.

nyx  said about 1 year ago:

I take it all back.

mrmagoo  said about 1 year ago:

Will LOL if one of the most boring live acts ever to come from Australia headlines.

Reasonable on record, but so dull live.
