Hobart + Music = Yeah! This Weekend

For the second year straight, Hobart + Music = Yeah! will run as part of the Amplified music industry summit in Tassie this weekend.

The event started in January 2009 as a one-day festival designed to showcase underground local bands, but aligned with Amplified for its second event at Salamanca Arts Centre last July.

This year, founders Jordan Marson and Jonothan McCarthy from Paint Your Golden Face have teamed up with local label and online blog Clones and Clones for the third edition of the event. It’ll take place from noon to midnight across four locations in Hobart this Sunday (September 5). Thomas Hyland from Clones and Clones said this year’s focus was on presenting quality music with a slant towards noise artists and “abrasive” underground bands. “Jordan, Jonothan and myself have literally been putting away $50 each week in order to put this small ‘festival’ on,” he told M+N.

Here’s the line-up:

Xiu Xiu (US)
Drunk Elk
Kind Winds
The Stabs
Chrysalis
Parking Lot Experiments
Aktion Unit
Transcription of Organ Music
The Native Cats
Tiger Choir
Spheres
Gutter Parties
Zeal
Tantrums
Matt Niedra
The Anorexic Olsen Twin
The Breeze
