Melbourne venue Yah Yah’s will celebrate its second birthday with 14 bands and 12 hours of rock’n’roll this Sunday (September 5). Bands performing include Brisbane’s The Gin Club (pictured), Sydney’s Johnny Casino and The Secrets, Dynamo, Digger & The Pussycats, Eagle & The Worm, Mike Noga & The Gentlemen of Fortune, The Cheats, Russian Roulettes and Davey Lane’s new band The Psychotic Pineapples. Doors open at noon with bands playing until midnight.
Super Wild Horses will play a farewell show in their hometown of Melbourne before heading to the states for an 11-date tour. The duo – Amy Franz and Hayley McKee – will perform this Friday (September 3) at the Curtin Hotel in Carlton with supports from The Twerps, The Exotics and Constant Mongrel, who recently spoke to M+N about their disdain for
Fabulous Diamondsarty noise. The band’s maiden US tour kicks off on September 16 at Death By Audio in Brooklyn, New York, and includes a stint at Goner Fest in Memphis on September 23. The tour is in support of the band’s debut album, Fifteen, which came out in July through Aarght!/Shock.New dream pop outfit Sikap Sempurna are launching their debut EP at Bella Union at Trades Hall in Melbourne this Friday (September 3). Supports include Kieran Ryan from Kid Sam, Space Cactus and a solo set from Pikelet (aka Evelyn Morris and her suite of loop pedals). The EP’s seven songs were recorded in seven hours at a “butter factory” in Castlemaine, Victoria. It’ll be available for sale on the door.
