• Gaslight Radio will play a free show at Northcote Uniting Church in Melbourne this Friday (August 20). The show is part of a two-night showcase of new Melbourne label Departed Sounds – an initiative of publicist Ashley Sambrooks (Show Off Services) and musician Andrew Keese (Andrew Keese & The Associates) – which launched in April. Opening night (which is free to the first 150 people through the door) will see performances by Lindsay Phillips, Andrew Keese & The Associates, khancoban and, of course, Gaslight Radio. The following night ($10 online, $12 on the door) will feature Phillips, Tobias Cummings, Amaya Laucirica and special guest Gosteleradio. • After relocating to the US earlier this year, Luluc’s Zoe Randell and Steve Hassett will return home to support Angus & Julia Stone on their 25-date tour, which begins tomorrow (August 18) at the Moncreif Theatre in Bundaberg, Queensland. The duo will be performing songs from their acclaimed debut *Dear Hamlyn. Dates here.

• Kes Trio – Karl Scullin, Lehmann B Smith and Julian Patterson – will launch their new album, Black Brown Green Grey White, at The East Brunswick Club in Melbourne on September 25. Out September 18 through Mistletone/Inertia, the album is described as “a yin-yang dichotomy, juxtaposing contemplative, melodic beauty and inward-gazing ballads with jerky dischord, banshee yells and whirlwind anti-rock riffs”.
