Ranga On Ranga: Bowditch Interviews PM

In an effort to canvass some last-minute yoof/hipster votes before Saturday’s federal election, Prime Minister Julia Gillard has taken part in an interview with Clare Bowditch on social networking site MySpace. (Christina Hendricks wasn’t available.)

The 40-minute interview, which covered the PM’s “policies and personality behind them”, will be broadcast tomorrow, 6pm, on the site’s new blog space MySpace Today.

Here’s what Bowditch had to say about it: “I asked very direct questions about many of the things that matter to me. I owned up about my JG impersonations, sought advice on how to master her ‘Karate Chop Hands’, and invited her to speak from the heart. She was open and threw in a few surprises.”

In completely unrelated news, Bowditch and her freshly named six-piece The New Slang will take part in the next MySpace “Secret Show” at an undisclosed venue in Sydney on August 18. To attend the event, fans will need to register their mobile for spam at myspace.com/secretshowsau.

Bowditch’s fourth album, Modern Day Addiction, was released on Friday (August 13).

I know what you mean. I'm sure she is a nice lady but her sultry-Brunswick-earth mother schtick drives me insane.

Whats with all the glorification of rangas? This sort of thing should not be encouraged. It is not good to draw attention to having red hair. This place disgusts me.

i like that one song ''you look so good/ah-ha, it hurts'' way more than any of her other stuff.

FrankieTeardrop  said about 1 year ago:

This pairing is quite well orchestrated. Most of Bowditch's audience would be young, small-L liberal family types, too savvy to vote for Abbott, but not willing to risk a shift to The Greens. Safety cats, all of them.

angelicIV  said about 1 year ago:

ha safety cats..not bad

a bad scene that safety cat scene. it's basically brutalism, white walls red wine..chrome furntiture reno'd single fronted shit box's/

scallywag  said about 1 year ago:

Most of Bowditch's audience would be well on their way to middle aged who still listen to JJJ in last ditch effort to hold on to their rapidly vanishing but once alternate youth. I'd also reckon that more than a fair few would have made the switch to The Greens years ago under the veil of dinner party radicalism but with the protection of their inner-city dwelling NIMBY interests paramount.

True. I guess when I think of young families of the arty/yuppie demographic these days, I'm thinking of people in their mid-30s.

Poor mick.

A colony of crabs, apparently. Colony was the word used.

Ha! You think that I couldn't see Toadphoney's lame joke a mile off?

I've only mentioned 'names' where they're relevant to the discussion, or in response to the thread topic.

Did anyone even watch this?

timewaster  said about 1 year ago:

Myspace is pretty dead.

It's amazing. Bands that used to get 3000 plays a day now get 150 plays a day. Murdoch's trying to turn the whole thing into Facebook, but that's annoying. Constant gimmicks, pointless 'friend' bulletins and 'tweets'. Still good for music though, but it's just bands and spammers nowadays. Tom made his $500 million while the going was good.

Yep. you can still watch it now. Pretty entertaining. Bowditch was playing with a ball and then PM was holding a ball.
