What: Bande Magnetique by ninetynine.

When: August 16 through Patsy Records. Launch dates: August 21 at The Old Bar, Melbourne; September 4 at The Red Rattler, Sydney; September 11 at The Hangar, Brisbane; and October 16 at The Metro, Adelaide.

Key notes: Seventh album for Melbourne indie-pop quartet, which began as a solo project for Laura MacFarlane (ex-Sleater Kinney and Sea Haggs) in 1996. Follows 2006’s Worlds of Space, Worlds of Population, Worlds of Robots. Recorded at home by MacFarlane during 2009. Mixed by Karl Smith (Lee Memorial/Sodastream) and mastered at Headgap in Melbourne.

From the presser: “[Combines] gorgeous female fronted Casio pop with jagged indie rock, lush string arrangements and quirky tuned percussion.”

New album is fantastic! I'm enjoying Woods, Motorcycle and Going South the most. Woods is one of the best things the band have ever done, easily in my top 5 Ninety Nine tracks of all time.

Just got around to listening to this. It's REALLY good. Nice to see them back and back on Process-era-form. Loving Guest List Girls, Woods and Long Way Back myself.

We play in Frankston on the 18th of November at Pier Live, and in Geelong at Bended Elbow on the 19th of November.

There is a also a live to air on PBS this Tuesday evening.. I think!
