The much anticipated debut album from cult Melbourne five-piece Spider Vomit is recorded, but it’s unlikely to get a release anytime soon.
This from vocalist Craig Dermody, who recently spoke to M+N ahead of the album launch for his other band, Scott & Charlene’s Wedding (full interview here. Asked what the status of the Spider Vomit album is, Dermody said that with his imminent relocation to the US and other members busy with various projects, the album isn’t exactly high on the priority list.
“That’s a really tough one,” he told M+N. “We’ve got it recorded, but I’m going away and we’re all really busy with other things. Who knows? At this stage, I don’t think for much of us it’s high up in the priorities.”
The band’s last release was the Widows Walk EP, which come out in 2007 on Unstable Ape. We likened to it “’70s downers that are now illegal”. They’ve made sporadic live appearances since, but have been on hiatus for the past year or so.
