An Australian rock icon, 300 people packed into an exhibition space, blow-up dolphins, costume changes, saganaki burgers, and bubble machines – it’s safe to say Dan Kelly’s performance at last month’s M+N Lunchbox was one of our best yet (video evidence on its way).
And the frivolities are set to continue when The Boat People become the seventh band to perform a Lunchbox show at 1000 ₤ Bend. The free gig will take place on Friday, August 13, 1pm (or thereabouts) on Little Lonsdale street in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.
The Boaties, who originally hail from Brisbane, will perform tracks from their “stellar” third album Dear Darkly. Released independently through Shock on July 2, it was recorded over several sessions with producer John Castle (Washington, The Bamboos, Dan Parsons) in his studio in Melbourne, where half the band now reside.
Each Lunchbox gig is recorded for later consumption on M+N TV. Past performers have included Pikelet, Lost Animal, Circle Pit, Otouto and Denim Owl. Check out photos, videos and news about upcoming events at our dedicated Lunchbox page.

this band is so terrible. they should give up already.
