Related: Kes, Kes Band, Kes Trio.

What: Black Brown Green Grey by Kes Trio.
When: September 18 locally through Mistletone and worldwide through iTunes and mailorder.
Key notes: Kes Band’s latest incarnation as a trio featuring Kes (Karl Scullin), Lehmann B Smith and Julian Patterson. Sixth full-length release by Kes and the follow-up to last year’s all-instrumental Kes Band II, which we described as “reserved and passionate, abrasive and sweet, epic and miniature”. From the presser: “Black Brown Green Grey White is a yin-yang dichotomy, juxtaposing contemplative, melodic beauty and inward-gazing ballads with jerky dischord, banshee yells and whirlwind anti-rock riffs.”

One of the most enigmatic and respected bands from Melbourne’s fertile art/music underground, Kes Trio launch the new album ‘Black Brown Green Grey White’, out September 18 on Mistletone Records through Inertia. A stunning document of Kes Band’s current and undeniable incarnation as a trio featuring KES (Karl E Scullin), Lehmann B. Smith and Julian Patterson, ‘Black Brown Green Grey White’ is a yin-yang dichotomy. Contemplative, melodic beauty and inward-gazing ballads are juxtaposed with jerky dischord, banshee yells and whirlwind anti-rock riffs. Compelling, uncompromising and beautiful, Kes Trio will surely hold you spellbound
