“A true road-trip of an album, the songs at once timeless and contemplative, spiked with the adrenaline of a chase to get away from reality.”
This is how Sydney’s Belles Will Ring describe their forthcoming second album (third if you count mini-LP Broader Than Broadway), which will be released in spring through Remote Control.
The band's songwriting core of Liam Judson and Aidan Roberts spent the better part of 2009 writing the album, which focuses on “the idea of escape, and its many forms”. Inspired by the road (they did a lot of touring in 2008 and 2009), it was eventually fleshed out with the full band at a country estate in NSW. It’s expected to be darker and more “thematically driven” than their 2007 psychedelic pop debut Mood Patterns.
In other news, Belles Will Ring will launch their clip to the album’s first single, ‘Come To The Village’, at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on August 3. Directed by Aimée-Lee Curran, the clip is currently streaming on M+N TV. Entry is free.
