True’s Thin Kids Land Kate Nash Supports
News posted Tuesday, July 13 2010 at 11:00 AM.
Related: The Thin Kids.
As if you needed more proof that joke bands have legs in this country (other than The Galvatrons, of course), The Thin Kids have been picked as main supports for Kate Nash’s upcoming Splendour In The Grass sideshows.
The new “vanity project” for music critic Everett True (“Hasn’t his whole career been a vanity project?” the cynic in you may ask) and Brisbane musicians Edward Guglielmino and Scotty Regan, The Thin Kids will play three shows with the flame-haired UK singer next month. They will perform at Melbourne’s East Brunswick Club on August 3; a sold-out show at The Corner Hotel, also in Melbourne, on August 4; and at Sydney’s Metro Theatre on August 5.
The band played their first gig at Brisbane’s The Troubadour in February; a performance we described as “in-joke that's so bad, it's good”. Here’s some footage of them playing to a bunch of disinterested skaters (courtesy Eternal Soundcheck):

Who is Kate Nash, and is she just trying to butter Ev Trueckeray up for a positive review?
Now Sydney and Melbourne get to share Brisbane's pain.
The Beards.
Kate Nash is the singer of pretty bland and inoffensive pop/indie-pop songs. Boring as hell but very good looking.
She sold out her corner show and another is on sale at The East.
The Cribs lurve Everett True. She is dating one of them.
Now you have introduced yet another mystery element here. Who are The Cribs? And why does their lurving Everett True have anything to do with Kate Nash (or is The Cribs a lady?) dating one of 'them' (who is 'them'? The Cribs? Everett True?)?
Wait - I get it! Kate Nash is dating The Cribs!
Sounds like The Cannanes.
I could have stated that better. The Cribs are buddies with True, he supported them in Brisbane earlier this year, I forget the exact wording but they called his band either the best in Brisbane or Australia or something like that. Nash is dating of The Cribs, so would stand to reason she's a fan too.
Actually, from a Cribs interview in NME -
Are The Cribs famous like Kate Nash?
As in- people are only interested due to some tenuous link to Kurt Cobain?
The Cannanes have a link to Kurt Cobain?
Oh wait... K Records, of course.
This is around the level of support I'd expect to see for a Brisbane band from a Melbourne-based website.
Are you trying to say that you luv Kate Nash?
Go Between Opening: Here Comes A City
The Gin Club: ‘What We Do Is MOR Pop’
Andrew Stafford: Brisbane Post-Pig City
Nikko - The Warm Side
Cured Pink - Cured Pink
and don't forget all the wolfmother articles
Is that it? A handful of articles written by Mess And Noise's token Brisbane music critic? Wow. Forgive me if I'm not too overwhelmed
(He's a good critic, mind you....)
Melbourne is just jealous!
pics of kate nash please

terribly important, relevant band right there.
sexist
This thread does not have everything as there is no slap bass.
Oh no, I think Sarah McLeod defined the spirit of a generation of disaffected South Australians.
Their regional tour with Eskimo Joe was one of the most disturbing shows of my life; mainly because I could see horrible premonitions of scenes from The Accused.
so who won? the guys in the internet or the guys outside the internet?
If Mess And Noise don't start using me after this, I'm giving up and going home. Oh no, wait... that's what you all want to hear.
will you pipe down jerry, i'm trying to pull a quick one off before i have to go to work
I feel all cheap and used now.

I opened a thread
Brisbane's Valley is dying.
so many things in that article are so wrong, i've corrected some quotes:
like bam, the mindset of eldon raises red flags in that he says
as bam did by putting the idea of a festival greater priority than the idea of musicians performing, eldon gives the bar and club higher priority to musician performance (which he says is free). i think i'll give my wallet higher priority in venues/events where the music is highest priority. but that's just me
i do agree with trevaskis that brisbane needs to amend it's licensing so that more than just one acoustic guitarist can play in venues in the suburbs. if that is the case it sounds horrifically archaic, and discriminates against the suburbs
when i see this thread on the front page of discussions i get this sinking feeling in my guts and then i spew all over the desk
get ready to vomit...
Kate Nash interview:
[Everett True, the lead singer of band The Thin Kids who are supporting you during your Australia tour, is quite a controversial figure in the Australian music industry. What led to you choosing his band as your support?
I met him before, we did an interview together in Brighton like a few years ago and he’s obviously quite a well-known character because of Nirvana. My boyfriend [ The Cribs’ Ryan Jarman ] knows him and he’s had him as a support band and he was really nice about some of my music and the new record and stuff so I just thought might as well get him to play because he played with The Cribs a few months back and I just thought it might be fun.](http://www.fasterlouder.com.au/features/24835/Kate-Nash.htm)
like is officially my most disliked word.
