Perth’s Benedict Moleta will hit the road this month in support of his “uniformly strong” fifth album Timesheet. Moleta (that's him, second from left) will perform with his four-piece band at Melbourne’s Empress Hotel with the Ancients and Oliver Mann on July 16; at The Edinburgh Castle, also in Melbourne, with Andrew McCubbin and The Hope Addicts, Margins and Chris Rainier on July 17; at Sydney’s The Sandringham with The Jewel and The Falcon and Community Radio on July 18; and back home in Perth at The Den with Sabre Tooth Tigers, 6s & 7s and Ramona Bird on July 23. Released independently in April, Timesheet is available now through iTunes.
Having recently wowed the pants off Laurie Anderson and Lou Reed at Noise Night at Sydney’s Opera House, Melbourne’s ZOND will launch their debut self-titled album in their hometown at the end of the month. The band, who (accurately) describe themselves as an “audio holographic Rorschach blot flatlining”, will perform at The John Curtin Hotel on July 31 with supports from Beaches and Snawklor. Out now through R.I.P Society Records, ZOND was described by M+N’s René Schaefer as a “milestone” in their “continuing rise as one of Australia’s most exhilarating and singular bands”. Full review here.
Fresh from her performance at M+N’s Lunchbox (video evidence here), Pikelet (aka Evelyn Morris) will perform a rare solo show in Melbourne next week. Shrugging off her handsome male accompanists – Shags Chamberlain, Tarquin Manek and Matthew Cox – Pikelet will perform entirely alone (bar a few instruments and her trademark loop pedals) at The Empress Hotel on July 11, 3pm. Supports from kyü, a “precociously twisted” vocal duo from Sydney. Cost: $8.

Dear god, Sam Scherr in Mess and Noise, whatever next
hahaha
both Sam and Benedict are looking...different to when I last saw them.
That show with The Ancients looks swell though. As does ZOND's launch of course.
Don't I look unimpressed enough for ya, Bradby?
ZONDCORE!
Oh jesus, he is here now. Help me, I left Perth to get away!
